Description
The position is located in Beaumont, TX is a part of BASF’s Agricultural
Solutions division. We develop and produce innovative chemistries providing
herbicides to assists farmers in meeting the growing demand for improved
agricultural productivity. BASF Agricultural Solutions’ mission is to help
today’s growers meet the challenges of tomorrow’s hungry world.
1. Ensure that all QC activities at the BMT site are in accordance with the
relevant legal and AP/BASF requirements
2. Ensure the quality and performance of our products – TGAI’s and
formulated products as specified– and avoid complaints of products produced
at the BMT site
3. Develop and validate methods for cross contamination, process
improvements projects and process troubleshooting.
4. Develop and/or improve analytical methodology using existing or new
instrumentation
5. Embrace and actively drive continuous improvement and Operations
Excellence at the Beaumont Site, including significant engagement in the
cultural transformation to Lean mindsets and behaviors. In the Analytical
Chemist role, some examples include Design for Lean, Single Minute Exchange
of dies (SMED), Visual Management/Workplace, lean role-modeling.
6. Supervise the QC shift organization responsible for supporting operating
units at the Beaumont site and exchange information with manufacturing /
technology in close cooperation.
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are
accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
An experienced professional with demonstrated success in conducting
scientific experimentation and well developed analytical skills. The
incumbent will work on additional technical skills, analytical method
development and developing effective team working relationships. Supervisory
experience is desired.
1. PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry or BS or MS degree in Chemistry with a
minimum of ten (10) years of broad-based analytical knowledge and
experience including chromatography (HPLC-UV, HPLC-MS, GC), spectroscopy and
wet chemical techniques. Ability to develop and obtain pertinent data to
recommend actions with economic justifications.
2. Administrative, organizational, networking and management skill capable
of leadership and entrepreneurship.
3. Ability to lead by example and proven track record of implementation
skills
4. Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting a sophisticated
analytical instrumentation.
5. Analytical thinking and planning skills
6. Communication skills capable of:
a. Convincing others
b. Effectively transmitting information.
c. Providing written and oral reports on the results generated.
7. Knowledge and practice of safe laboratory operations.
