FLAGSTAFF - A hearing is scheduled Friday morning on a Las Vegas developer's
request to keep an Arizona tribe from cutting him out of managing the Grand
Canyon Skywalk.
The Hualapai Tribe declared eminent domain over the management contract
earlier this month and says it will compensate David Jin for his investment.
Jin's attorneys are seeking a temporary restraining order to curb what they
call a gross abuse of legislative and administrative power.
The tribe wrote in a response to the motion that federal court is not the
proper venue. It says that the eminent domain action should be litigated in
tribal court.
Both sides have accused the other of failing to abide by a contract for the
Skywalk.
The glass bridge extends 70 feet from the Grand Canyon on the reservation.
