I am asking for help with tax return.
I came to US in July 1998, and got my OPT in January 2003, and H1-B in June
2003. Since the beginning of my OPT, I paid social security tax and medicare.
It's my understanding that I do not have to pay social security and medicare
during OPT if I stay here less than 5 years.
I wonder if I can file Dual-Status Tax return for the year 2003? Can I say I
am qualified for not paying social security and medicare from Jan-May 2003?
Could I get that money back | o****e 发帖数: 43 | 2 yes, you have to file dual-tax return, but you can file 1040 if you are
married, see tax board. About social security and medicare tax, please check
working board also, they are talking about this recently.
