本人四个月前找到一个DOT的小差事，因为现在经济不好，当时就屈就了。现在想起来
还是走了着好
棋。写出来大家分享一下。
本人国内读书不大好，大本就自费过来在2线大学读（100左右的大学）。毕业正好赶上
房地产的尾班车，风风火火的干了几年，还把绿卡搞了，PE考了。09年大家都没工作了我也不例外。
幸亏学校的老板人好，帮我找了个TA，回去学校拿了个Master回来，结构的。去年乱投resume，竟然
在DOT找了份工作，职位很低， 而且很不对口。我是学机构的，工作是交通。但是有工作总比没
有工作好。现在不到4个月，又接到DOT得一个interview机会，是我想要的职位。本人感想，不要灰
心，resume要多投。我也是运气好才找到这份工作。当时一个老华侨把我招进去了。我当时并不认识
他。
我认识一个孟加拉人，他有美国绿卡，为了找到工作，他每一个DOT都投了一分resume，听他讲找工
作的经历，真的可以写一篇血汗史。工作不要嫌人工底，不对口。特别是政府共，进了去再说。他们
有很多职位都不对外。我要不是进了DOT，我想我根本没有现在这个机会。不是说我一定能拿到，但
是这次不行，以后机会还是多的是。
再多说两句吧。大家都说土木没前景，什么夕阳工业，工作很难找，要转专业。我觉得关键要看自己
想要什么。别看人家EE毕业就赚70k以上，我们土木赚个60k就很不错了。可是我们工作清闲呀，压
力不大。那是钱换不回来的。再加上半路出家，换了专业读完出来也不一定飞黄腾达。
今夜失眠，胡言乱语了一番。中听的，大家共勉，不中听的，大家一笑就好了。

especially transportation guys, is the DOT and MPOs

DOTs are not hiring, but we still need to try.
About the greencard, there are many ways to solve this problem. The
easier and fastest way is to get married with American. My wife is
American, but my Greencard is not from her. I know it is a little off
the topic. The point is that use our imagination, we are all smart
guys/girls. Don't just sit in the couch and complain no jobs on the
market. My friends are all found jobs even in this bad economy.

福利好-医疗保险和20多天的假期就不说了，就说state pension就够了，退休拿90-95%
的人工，以至拿到死的那一天。

First of all, DOT is state government. Our operation budget is from the
State. I admit DOT would laid people off, just like private company. However
, engineers are the last to be laid off. Beside, if they have to laid people
Dot. They have to get approval from the governor. not like private company,
you come back to work on Monday, they call you to the big boss office whom
you have never spoke with, he tells you that you are no longer needed. Final
thought, if you get laid off from State government, you are pretty much
done. pack it up and go home. |
