The position is for Research Technician I/II or Research Assistant,
depending on the level of education and experience of the applicant. My
laboratory is interested in kidney development and in understanding the
pathogenesis of polycystic kidney disease using mouse models. Specifically,
I am interested in learning how tubules are formed during embryogenesis. I
have started my laboratory at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical
Center this January 2011 and am looking to hire a technician who is
hardworking, detail-oriented and willing to work with animals. The job
duties will consist of maintaining a small mouse colony, genotyping, and
tissue preparation, such as sectioning and histology. Other experimental
techniques such as western blot, PCR, tissue culture, and basic biochemistry
will also be performed. Some experience in these techniques is desirable
but not required. I will directly supervise the technician. My laboratory
has a paper on tubulogenesis now accepted at Development, but not yet
published. Interested applicants can email me to receive a copy of this.
