idea or suggestion or even any thought.
【在 a****a 的大作中提到】 : a circular plate has diameter x, and many small balls has diameter y, x>y, : what is the maxmum number of balls can be placed on the circular plate?
| k******g 发帖数: 15 | 3 Your problem is related to 2-Dimensional packing.
For the 3-Dimensional ball packing, as I know, the minimum packing ratio is
52.36%, the maximum packing ratio is 74.06%, and the random close packing
ratio is about 63%. The 2-D cases also have been well developed, but
unfortunately,I do not remember the exact numbers now. You can try google or
some powder technology handbook. | a*******r 发帖数: 7558 | 4 just search 'sphere packing' on isi or your library
many problems in 2-d packing are well understood already.
BTW, Salvador Torquto pointed out that rcp is ill-defined |
