late season), and the shoulder pain has been bothering me; had to raise the
handle bar again and again. Tiger balm patch seems helping too. Will start
early Saturday to possibly clear all check points on the day.

ride on mt baldy, which is only one third of your elevation, and far less of
your distance.

Wolf I still think this ride fits your style (and mine) pretty well. I will
do it again next year, so let me know if you can find time for it! It would
be quality time spent. Just as Cookiejar said, you guys can do this easily with some preparation.
Baldy is a perfect training route for it; so do I think of my back yard
mountain with 2500feet/8miles, which is very safe with its extended shoulder
and always sees cyclists at all levels. Adding daily laps before the event will do the t

, esp without using paceline). But it is a great tour of that area supported
by outstanding local volunteers and comrade riders.

11.5m/h is not bad at all. I recall averaged 13.5m/h on that day in 2006. I
had ample prep rides previously such as Sierra Century 200k, and Climb to
Kaiser.
did you pick up 50m/h on Carlson Pass on the way down? There's a straight
section where you can pick up some crazy speed. I thought that was the
coolest part on that ride.
I like this years logo, better than the ones I got in 2001 and 2006.

rock campground when thunder storm and hail started. the scene looked just
like that first photo wolf posted.
my buddy bill thought i was nuts riding in thunder. he pulled into a store
about 2 miles to the campground and i just pressed on in the storm. it was
quite some experience.

Then it was windy driving aspen leaves moving in all directions. For a
couple of seconds I imagined the path led to the other world and asserted
the proper naming of the ride :)
