more car drivers than bikers in america. There are much more fat women like
the one I met than slim bikers. one can easily think the law will favor
which side.

My memory was not quite correct. It is in Idaho that both "Red as stop" and
"Stop as yield" are effective. In Oregon, you only have "Stop as yield".

当然，因为自行车含的金属少一些，可能停车的时候要注意一下停的位置，尽量停在圈
上。我们这里在圈上都标了一个X符号表明这里是最佳停车位置。
实在不行的话，把自行车放倒，能检测到的可能性大一些。

不带头盔，逆向骑行，随便乱拐的这种。就是骑个好车，穿着骑行服的也有不守规矩的
。前两天我开车在一个高速出口的地方等红灯，一个骑自行车的高速从我边上扬长穿红
灯而过，差点跟高速出来的车撞上，我都吓得够呛，恨不得追上去痛骂几句，就是这样
的骑车人多了，开车的才都恨得牙痒。
所以，不管是骑车还是开车，都要按规矩来，大家都谅解一下。骑车的能让的时候就让
一下，毕竟出了问题的话肯定是自行车吃亏。开车的能忍的时候就忍一下，也就几分钟
的事情，等到了能换lane超车的时候你再超也亏不了多少。自行车单占一条道是为了安
全，不是为了故意堵你。
出门又不是为了斗气的，安全第一。

importantly, different--target. when the average american driver is actively
looking for cars and road signs he tend to ignore other objects in view.
this is the psychological effect called visual filtering. it's a very well
proven scientific fact.
on the other hand if the driver learned to drive in china where he has to
look for both cars and bikes it's a different story.

equipped everywhere.
Have you ever made it work? I read some articles that describe what it looks
like and how to find it. I just could not find one that works. I would
appreciate if you can take a picture and post it.

If you think one of them really do not work, call department of
transportation in your city to let them repair it. That's the best way to
help them improve the system. (Because they really do not know if it works
as expected or not and need user's input)

one hand, it is great to know the trick for triggering the detector which is
designed for cars not for bikes in most places. On the other hand, it is
yet another example that cyclists are discriminated. I have been riding for
7 years averaging about 100 miles a week. If I can't figure out how to make
the detector work, what can you expect from an ordinary biker? If you care

the more practical way is to educate people (both bikers and riders) how the
loop detector works. We are definitely behind on this and many of us do not
know how it works.

me. But, still it is inconvenient for bikers. It would be better if they
also put it in bike lane or places where a bike naturally stand or have a
better sign to point it out for cyclists. You see the current design does
not require a driver to be aware for it to work. I have been riding in 4
states including SoCal. In all the group rides I have been to, I don't

，我开车肯定有欺负你的意思，就像大个子小个子一样。
这个国家开车的人数比例，以及各个石油财团为了自己的利益，甚至牺牲铁路，建设高
速公路。就像华人是少数一样，相对开车，自行车肯定受到的歧视肯定要大的多。
车版许多仁说，在美国骑车等于找死--大家车都月开越大，恨不得上坦克，你却骑车。
反正自从我朋友出事以后，我很少在公路上骑车了，宁可上路肩人行道，因为即使是
bike route，基本没人注意的，大家都开习惯了。我朋友就是在bike route，被一个没
STOP的家伙差点撞死。 |
