In order to compete in cyclocross races, there are specific adjustments that

* Handlebars must not be more than 50 cm.
* Tires must not be thicker than 35 mm.
* Wheels must have at least 12 spokes.
* Bikes must not weigh less than 15 lbs.
* Disc brakes are forbidden.

, if the race organizers say you cannot, then just get one with regular
brakes. (did you ask them why disc brakes are forbidden?) |

From this year disc is allowed, and tire width is reduced to 33mm.
Of course if the race is not UCI sanctioned, all things are possible. |
