two-hour window without raining at Accuweather, I decided to go out for a
short ride (my regular cycling route).
At first it was pretty windy. Apart from that, everything is fine. It was
drizzling a little, but I was lucky to escape the rain. After all the climbs
, there came one descending (0.4 mile long 11.9% grade 4 climb the other way
around). I suddenly realised that the road was wet and it started to get
dark. On one side there were parked cars on the road and on the other side
cars drove past me. I felt so scared and braked all the way down. Compared
to my normal speed around that session (1 mile), which is 22 mile/hour (30
mile/hour maximum), I only managed 16 mile/hour today. Never felt this
scared before. I was so tense, and my back muscle ached afterwards. I only
felt a little better after dinner...
What shall I do with this fear? Is wet road that harmful (I don't feel that
bad on a flat stretch) or is it only my wrong perception?
Another question, do you have chafing problem? I saw guys use vaseline at
IMW during T2. How about cycling? Do you apply vaseline? I don't have
problem during my Saturday ride. But today it felt a bit weird with the
hairs... (sorry about this). And it is another cycling shorts today and I
went commando both today and Saturday. Any suggestion?
Yet another question, my toes were numb while cycling, and it was not that
cold yet. Is it because my shoes are not really a snug fit? Or simply
overshoes will solve this problem?

发帖数: 19210 | 2 I would be afraid too in a wet and dark situation. That's why I don't ride
when it's wet and dark outside.
I don't use vaseline for any of my ride. The only exception was at this year
's Muskoka 70.3 only because I was trying out the brand-new 2XU trisuit. I
applied body-glide under there, and still got chafing issue after the race.
Never had that problem with my bib-shorts.
With numbing toes, get a pair of cycling booties. Or if you are cheap like
me, use big old heavy socks and cut a hole under to let the cleats out. ;-) | e*******e

If you are single then it is fine to wear helmet and tear the rain drop
apart for fun.
For old uncle like me, I can't take the chance.

今年偶一次commute，下午下起倾盆大雨，下班的时候仍是暴雨如注，有些路段积水半
轮子深，中间还被一个driver honk加yelling，当时偶只有一个念头，全神贯注，勇往
直前。
It's definitely a sensational ride. Adrenaline super high. Not something you
want to do on purpose given the potential danger. But, could be once a life
time experience.

发帖数: 1654 | 8 我觉得可能和鞋比较大，比较通风有关。本来买鞋的时候，按照review说的买大了一号
，谁知道真的是大了一号。。。
之前的脚伤，有一个明显的问题就是伤脚的脚腕比另外一个要粗。这个穿衣服的时候能
够体会出来。坑爹呀。。。
cleat一般在什么位置比较好？
