"Monsters, Inc. set a record for opening day video sales, with 5 million
copies sold on September 17th. This beats the previous sales record of 4.5
million units, held by Disney's The Lion King (which went on to sell over 30
million units). Disney's preliminary numbers indicate that 65% of consumers
purchased the innovative 2-disc DVD version. In total, the film generated
roughly $85 million for Disney on Tuesday." |
