I just begin to learn some SQL.( I know nothing about
Database before).
WOuld you please to tell me where to download such software
(based on LINUX prefer,
windows2000/NT is also OK) and learn.
What book is introductory book? I want to learn some to
begin my bioinformatics research.

发帖数: 430 | 3 MySql http://www.mysql.com runs on most platform and is very easy
to use, but it doesn't support stored procedures and transactions.
For a sql server with more functionalities look for postgresql which
also comes with linux. pretty good too.
For a standalone sql server on windows also try MSDE package, which
is just a stripped down version of MSSQL. It doesn't have administration
tools but is freely distributable.
As for books the on-line help file (MSSQL boosk) installed with mssql7 are
