The Software Development and IT Operations team is seeking a talented and
experienced SQL Server DBA to join our Team!
The SQL Server DBA will work within the Development and/or IT Operations
Team and will be responsible for helping to architect the Company’s
database systems and helping the Database and Software Engineering Teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Implementing, managing, troubleshooting and maintaining multiple
complex SQL Server environments
•Designing, testing, and implementing database triggers, stored
procedures, T-SQL scripts, and packages
•Creating and reviewing code and logical data models in support of
business objectives, strategic plans and physical design standards
•Identifying, troubleshooting and resolving database issues in close
collaboration with fellow IT staff and business users
•Performing design (conceptual/logical/physical), development,
implementation, and maintenance phases
•Proactively monitoring the database environment for continual
availability, performance, and security
•Troubleshooting and problem-solving SQL Server development
•SSIS and SSRS development and deployment
•Monitoring, managing and troubleshooting SQL Server replication
processes
•Analyzing and troubleshooting disk, memory and CPU specific
performance issues on high-volume OLTP servers
•Suggesting and implementing best practices on database design, SQL
server configuration, and scripting automation to support production, QA,
and development SQL environments
•Fulfilling database design and develop requirements for Software
Engineering projects
•Designing and maintaining the database infrastructure
•Designing and maintaining the Customer data mart
•Managing devices and databases, administering security, monitoring
servers and performance tuning
•Capacity planning
•Designing and developing reports and handling ad-hoc data requests
•Supporting production environments
•Mentoring Junior Database Administrators
•Documenting systems and processes
•Providing rotating on call support
QUALIFICATIONS
•Strong skills in T-SQL programmable object development, table design,
and index design
•Strong self-sufficiency, organizational skills and initiative working
on database projects
•Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills in
English, with the ability to be effective at all levels of the organization
•Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, understandable manner
•Proven ability to work closely with business users
•Proven ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
•Good time management skills and able to shift priorities
•Ability to adjust in a fast-paced environment
•Must be a team player and able to multi-task
•Highly organized and attention to detail
•Self-starter and self-motivated
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (INCLUDING CERTIFICATIONS):
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
required
•5+ years experience in database design and development
•5+ years experience in SQL (SQL Server, Oracle or Sybase) development
•Experience with developing in Business Intelligence Development
Studio (BIDS) and deploying to SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS projects
•In depth Microsoft SQL Server Database Administration experience,
ideally with SQL Server 2005, 2008 and 2008 R2
•Practical experience in monitoring and tuning databases to ensure
high availability
•Practical experience in managing internal and external MS SQL
database security
•Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and resolving database
problems
•Experience with ETL tools employment with SQL Server
•Experience with SQL Server Clustering
•Experience with SQL Server/SAN integration
•Experience with Database performance monitoring tools and processes (
Quest Spotlight)
•Programming or scripting language in addition to T-SQL (Powershell, C
#, etc) is a plus
•Familiarity with SQL Server Database Mirroring and log shipping is a
plus
•Experience with Dynamic Management Views is a plus
•Experience with SQL Server Audit is a plus
•Experience with optimization using File Groups to separate out
transactional versus read only data is a plus
•Experience designing, implementing and maintaining data warehouses
and data marts is a plus
•Experience in database archiving is a plus
•Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity design and management
experience is a plus
•Experience in EMC SAN environment is a plus
•Experience in e-commerce systems a plus
•Experience in Virtual Environments (VMWare) is a plus
•Understanding of Agile development methodology is a plus
