Thank you for contacting me regarding our nation's immigration system.
Our current immigration system is broken, which is why I believe Congress
should work to pass strong, effective and comprehensive immigration reform.
Comprehensive reform should include policies to secure our nation's borders,
curb future illegal immigration, establish an effective employer
verification system and find a practical solution for the millions of
illegal immigrants currently residing in the U.S.
We need comprehensive reform that serves the economic interests and needs of
our country. Our current visa system is an unnecessarily complex patchwork
of categories with arbitrary caps. I am particularly concerned with the
limits we place on highly skilled immigrants who are ready to innovate,
start businesses and create jobs in the United States. We must take a
practical approach to our visa system to build a better, more efficient
system that will ensure that we continue to attract the best, most talented
people from around the world.
