I think the most practical method is to fuse splice the broken part.
Another thing to note is that it is not to use solder!
Optical fiber is made of silica (or, just say glass), so it is not the same
as
the copper stuff. There are machines called fusion splicer to connect two fi
bers
together. Fusion Splicers use electrical arc to generate high temperature
and then make two fibers one.
