You just need to send a letter to your advisor saying:
"I recently finished a paper based on my intern project. Since there
are many discussions with you during the process, I just wonder whether
you like to co-author the paper. I am sending you the draft for your
consideration. "
If you boss say no, everything is simple. You can write another email
asking him for comments and put his name in achnowledgement.
