I am working on my thesis using MATLAB for programming.
I just heard from our department secretary that the MATLAB license in our
department is solely used for instruction purpose and I need to buy license
myself. She suggest me to buy individual license for academic use.
I checked through matchworks' website and contact their sales, they said
that a
student version is OK for research as part of thesis.

after my graduation, someone else will continue on the same project and need
matlab as well. I think that means I have to buy one,right? Actually, it
will be paid by part of the funding. So do you know which license is best
fit for this case? | f********o

or you can ask your boss to buy a license of Matlab, only cost $100

license with your own money (or your pretended, the same), this specific
license is your personal property, thus you have EVERY right not to let
other people use this license. Other people are welcome to use the code,
but the matlab they will be using is their OWN responsibility and whether
they have a license or not is not something you need to care.
