I would like to pick Berkeley, Stanford, and cal tech here.
In order to make solar good, you should have a really good understanding in
semi physics. There are some really good professors in Berkeley, Stanford
and Cal tech

solutions for affordable solar electricity.
So far, I believe NREL is the best institute for PV technologies.
Nevertheless, it is still an open area.

semi is dead now,
there are no New professors
doing semi in Stanford or Berkeley,
they are all interested in Nano
there are not too much science you can find now in solar cell
it's impossible to have good publications
and build your academic career with this topic, even
it's not easy
