The Computational Intelligence and Self-Adaptive Systems (CISA) Laboratory
at the Department of Electrical, Computer, and Biomedical Engineering at the
University of Rhode Island (URI) is seeking applications for funded Ph.D.
positions. Our laboratory is focusing on cutting-edge research on the
fundamental advancement of computational intelligence/machine learning and
applications to a wide range of domains, such as energy and power grids,
control, sensor networks, and cognitive radio networks.
For these openings, we are particularly interested in highly-motivated
students with a strong research background and capability, including,
1. A Master degree in engineering, technology, mathematics, or related
departments is preferred, thought outstanding undergraduate students will
also be considered;
2. Strong mathematical background and proficient in modeling and simulation
in a programming environment, such as Matlab/Simulink;
3. Previous research experiences with computational intelligence, adaptive
systems, and machine learning/data mining are preferred, especially on the
topics of adaptive dynamic programming (ADP), reinforcement learning (RL),
and adaptive control;
4. Previous journal and/or conference publications in related fields are
preferred;
5. Strong communication skills;
