• Development of engineering specifications for battery control
systems based on market or customer requirements.
• Design both digital and analog electronic circuits for various
Battery Management System components.
• Design the interface of the battery packs to external equipment.
Ensure the designs comply with all relevant electrical codes and standards.
• Experimental testing, analyzing of test data, and test report
writing to record operating performance.
• Support of production test system development through creation of
test plans and procedures.
• Interface with mechanical and software design teams in order to
fulfill design functional and packaging requirements.
• Procurement: identify preferred components & vendors, prepare
requisitions for Logistics Dept.
• Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture,
availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replaceability
, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and
cost.
• Develop detailed product BOMs.
• Review of complete layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness
, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of
calculations and dimensioning.
• Prepare and present technical design and data at program review
meetings.
• Develop and ensure compliance with best practices and lessons
learned in battery systems area from current and previous programs to
improve future designs.
• Participate in DFMEA activities internally and with suppliers to
ensure product failure modes and test plans are comprehended.
• Participate in DFM/DFA activities internally and with suppliers
to insure product design is cost effective and conforms to the manufacturing
& assembly plans.
Qualifications:
• Engineering degree +5 years experience in design and development
of electronic systems.
• Experience and understanding of multi-cell, rechargeable lithium
battery pack circuit and protection design considered an asset.
• Experience with high voltage battery management and power
electronics considered an asset.
• Knowledge/experience with preparing product and engineering
technical specifications and product performance test procedures or plans.
• Good working knowledge of Microprocessor based controller design
and testing.
• Good working knowledge of communication circuits and protocols (e
. g. CAN, Serial, etc. )
• Knowledge and experience with design and qualification of
military systems (e.g. MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461) is highly desireable
• Strong analytic problem solving skills, using suitable tools.
• Experience with OrCad for schematic capture.
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team;
demonstrate good interpersonal skills
• Ability to work under limited supervision.
• Strong organization and documentation skills. | s*****t
