Several PhD Positions are open now for Fall 2018 at University of Texas at
Arlington, Center on Stochastic Modeling, Optimization, & Statistics (COSMOS
), at the Department of Industrial, Manufacturing, & Systems Engineering (
IMSE). The selected candidates will work with Dr. Shouyi Wang with full
financial support. The research areas will be focused on Data Sciences,
Machine Learning, Deep Learning & Artificial Intelligence Technologies, and
biomedical & healthcare Informatics. Dr. Wang’s current research
collaborators include Apple, Foxconn International, Facebook/Oculus, and IBM
.
Visiting Students and Visiting Scholar Positions are also available in the

Position Information: Currently we are actively looking for qualified Ph.D.
students who will start in Fall 2018. The research direction will be focused
on Data Sciences, Machine Learning, and AI-driven technologies with various
cross-disciplinary applications in healthcare, robotics, manufacturing, and
business. Graduate students with strong quantitative background and
programming skills are encouraged to apply. If you are interested, please

D. students will be provided with full financial support for the entire PhD
study (4 years).

School & Program Information: With more than current 7,000 students, UT
Arlington College of Engineering is one of the largest engineering school in
the nation, and its programs are ranked by U.S. News and World Report as
among the best in the nation. According to 2018 Graduate Rankings of U.S.
News and World Report, UTA Engineering School is ranked #73 graduate
engineering program among 200 national universities. The Industrial,
Manufacturing, & Systems Engineering (IMSE) Department is ranked #44 for
Graduate Programs. The COSMOS Center is conducting world-leading research in
Advanced Data Analytics, Applied Machine Learning Research, Complex System
Optimization & Modeling, Healthcare and Biomedical Informatics, and
Intelligent Decision-Making Systems. The research has strong connections to
industry and business. Our PhD graduates are highly popular, highly demanded
/paid in the US and World job market. Recent Ph.D. graduates of COSMOS at
IMSE Department got jobs at American Airlines, United Airlines, UPS, CSX
Transportation, AT&T, Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, BNSF, General Motors,
Expedia, etc. Our Ph.D. graduates also have immense opportunities to pursue
academic careers. Some recent Ph.D. students obtained faculty/teaching or
postdoc positions at top schools, including Washington University in St.
Louis (Business School), Washington University (Seattle), University of
Southern California, and Harvard University (School of Medicine).
DFW Area: Located at the heart of the US fourth largest metropolitan areas (
Dallas/ Fort Worth Area), the IMSE Department at UT Arlington is very strong
in both world-leading research activities and strong industry support and
collaborations. With great resources and Texas state support, the department
is one of the fastest growing IE program in US. As of 2015 Spring, the IMSE
department at UTA has 48 PhD students and more than 400 master students.
The Chronicle of Higher Education ranked The University of Texas at
Arlington 7th on its 2013 list of fastest-growing public research
universities, noting a 58 percent increase in enrollment from fall 2001 to
fall 2011.
