f******h 发帖数: 37 | 1 I have completed two papers in two years, during which my advisor didn't
help much, now i am going to enter the markets, but still no one of my
committee members gives me any comments about my jobmarket paper. This is
really strange. Even it is because the topic is not of their interests, I
still believe that they should at least do proofread for me.
Can any tell me what I should do now when I am entering the markets?
Thanks for any comments. |

conferences. Do not expect your professors to take your JMP seriously. It's
your job to engage them. |

You have to keep on talking to them about your research. I wrote several
posts before to share my experience. If you cannot find them here, they are
available in my Blog: http://zuyeye.wordpress.com/, under the category of 经验之谈
Don't expect all of your committee members will read your papers. Econ
professors are usually too busy to read students' papers. Proofreading is
too much to ask. Pay a native speaker to do it for you. Just talk to your
advisors about your research ideas and results and try to get them
interested. A brownbag suggested by usrich is the best way to present your
work to faculty. Your department should also have some practice seminars for
job market candidates. Try your best to give an impressive talk at that
seminar. Many departments rank their candiates based on this seminar. |
