例如：让手机访问我自己的网站（for example, www.mycompany.com） 而在www.
mycompany.com上Redirec to IP address.

俺看不出为什么gateway不支持

如果有这个问题应该是gateway的问题

What's your result?
I tried someone else IP, got message"too large url".
My cell phone carrier is AT&T.
What do you mean that it is gateway problem?

the cell phone usually cannot access internet directly, instead there is a
gateway to translate and format the regular web page to the format that fits
your cell phone. of cause the gateway does more that just this.
openwave is the biggest provider for this kind of gateway.
you can ask your friends who use AT&T data services, if they have the same
issue, you may want to call the customer service to open a case

for example, from Cingular Browser to Internet Browser.

I called AT&T custom service and they told me that my cell phone (SGH-D087)
doesn't support IP address function.
If anyone have interest, you could visit my home based embedded server
throuh cell phone. My IP is 66.75.73.156. You could control some LED turn on
/turn off and read temperure(raw data). Please post result here.

Normally we have dynamic IP address, if you use it to control your home
device through your cell phone, it is cool, isn't it?

access internet through a WAP gateway. But a destination URL you input
should be able to contain IP, it is more an issue of the browser.
actually, you can try to go to the landing page when you launch the wap
browser, then see if you have an option to create a bookmark or add URL from
there

当你打开手机上浏览器，通常是自动连接到carrier 提供的一个WAP网页上,promote 各
种服务或billing 相关的功能，你在那些link 里找有没有象 add bookmark, 或者 "
goto website" 这样相关的link去Input URL, 我不sure 你是不是已经这样在用。。手
头没有ATT的phone, 只是个建议
