在美国工作了这些年，大大小小的项目作了不少，形形色色的人也认识了很多 - 多数
都是做环境的。想想我们学环境的未来，可以看看周围的seniors们。
1）小公司 --- 技术大拿
有人说小公司待遇好，挣钱多，还有Bonus。其实也不全是。小公司容易崭露头角，好
办事倒是真的。
刚开始工作在一家小公司，加上下工地的也就20多人吧。领导是非常聪明的Ph.D.，特
别有想法，而且让手下的人心甘情愿的作好本职工作，还会不断有创新。一切皆源于领
导艺术吧。我能感受到他对工作的热爱，但经济上就很难说了，无意中看到公司统计的
报表，他工作7，8年了，年薪也就不到8万吧，养活孩子和老婆，即使在小城市，想来
也不是很轻松。最有印象的是，公司里有免费Donuts的时候，他不管多忙都会赶紧去拿
一个。
公司里对他还是很重视的，他能做所有他想做的事。由他曾经让人Overhead大半年编一
个应用程序可见一斑。
如果能一直作自己想做的事是一种幸福，钱倒是其次了。
2）小公司 --- Management
经常都是老板的亲戚，水平参差不齐。想当领导的话，到大公司或者自己开公司。不 |

The first step to fix a problem is to find one. :)
As most Chinese are great engineers, the biggest obstacle preventing us from
being good managers are ourselves. I don't think Americans really think
Chinese cannot be managers. Most of the time it is the engineer kept talking
to her/himself that this is America and there is no manager position for
Chinese engineer.
If you don't feel like you can be a manger, how could the others feel that
way.

consulting firm, your salary shall be definitely over $80K in any state. It
is my understanding that the civil engineering market is pretty hot now due
to fewer and fewer american students have been willing to see the program
of Civil Engineering.

management position is the skill to build up business network, especially
with potential clients. Unlike technical issues, it takes lots of
understanding of the subtle cultural background to effectively communicating
for business matters. At least for me, sometimes it is very difficult to
understand my clients because we don't share common personal experiences. |

发帖数: 507 | 9 因为土木工程行业是历史最长的工程行业，相对计算机，金融等行业要成熟很多。所以
基本上没有机会实现暴利。所以想拿到更高的工资的话，最好的办法还是投上几万美元
读个就业前景更好的专业。
如果有这个想法的话，动作越早越好。
不过现在人都能活八九十岁，四十岁也不过是人生的一半，以后还有的是机会。我觉得
只要大家心中只要对环境问题有感情，做哪一行对环境都是有很大帮助的。
象我就是跨出去之后，觉得自己还是喜欢，就又回来了。如果不试一下怎么会知道什么
真正适合自己呢。
