There are several parameters that can influence nitrification:
1.SRT
2.DO
3.pH (alkanlity)
4.Temperature
5.Concentration of free ammonia
6.Concentration of inhibitory contaminants(organic matter and heavy metals)
You can find the list of threshold concentrations of contaminants inhibitory
to the activated sludge process from the WPCF Manual of Practice No. 8,
1977 Edition, pg 227. |
