better, but in some area, for example, networking,
UIUC is nothing but columbia is very strong.
Also, keep in mind UIUC is in middle of no where,
people have to work hard :-) | m*******r 发帖数: 1 | 2 not really, the network young profs in UIUC CS and ECE
(Bharghavan Vaduvur, Klara Nahrstedt) are very cool. ALso,
Mosaic, the father of Netscape and IE, was created at UIUC.
Columbia is for law and business.

but no one in CS doing networking.
Overall, Columbia's CS has a better networking
program. Also, lot's of old/big guys in department
doesn't mean you can learn better. Observe people
graduated from UIUC, really a big gap there...
Also seems lots of our best fudan people are
studying there, I'd better shut up here :P
Anyway, admire, and good luck! | a**u 发帖数: 11 | 4 UIUC CS Recent graduates include:
Ray Ozzie, creator of Lotus Notes, the leading groupware
program; Marc Andreessen and Eric Bina, co-authors of
Mosaic, the first popular
browser for the World Wide Web; Tim Krauskopf and Gaige
Paulsen,
co-authors of NCSA Telnet, a program that allows users to
log on
to a remote host; and Steve Dorner, creator of Eudora, the
popular
e-mail program; Tom Siebel, founder of business software
giant
Siebel Systems, to name a few.
Where is the big gap?
