我去年(2008)博士毕业正赶上行情市场不好，拿到个在这所大学做ＡＰ的发考题位子。
在这所大学干了１年多了， 不是很满意这所大学， 这里是个很小的college town
，大学排名也不理想 (影响拿 funding )， 生源不好(影响 research), teachig
load 偏重。
我很想试试跳到好一点的地方和好点的大学。 像我这种才工作１年就想跳槽是不
是不好? （担心在排名靠后的大学待久了失去竞争力了无法再跳槽）， 在申请新
大学时被我们系知道了是不是很伤人品（影响今后评"甜妞"）?

如果还是一个烂校offer就不跳，如果是名校当然跳了

are talking about the quality of the proposal itself, not where it comes...
生源不好(影响 research)? Why always target at top students? averge-quality
students will suffice for research if not purely theoretical in nature...

第二点完全不同意 学生的聪明程度 工作态度 自主性差别极大 严重影响research

research school多很多。那些杂七杂八的原本可以让TA来应付的琐事，都在一点点地
侵蚀有限的时间和精力。

connections to get funding, e.g., from some local companies. So they give
the same weight to those non-peer reviewed grants as to the NSF grants with
a 10% funding rate. What is worse? They don't understand publication
quality (e.g., top conferences) and just simply count quantity. So, for
most Chinese people who are hardworking, it is unnecessarily top school是更
深层的地狱.

Industrial money mostly does not allow overhead or very low rates so that
the schools get nothing. 2. some federal grants are important to school
ranking. |

让抽取很少的overhead。NSF和其他agency比较习惯被抽百分之五十的overhead。这样
学校得的油水少，自然不喜欢Industrial money。 |
