It seems to me that almost all the schools pick one super star in each area,
and totally pick 4-5 candidates for onsite interview.
I am wondering if you are not super star no. 1 or 2, but no. 3 in your area,
you missed most of the opportunities.
On the side of schools, if they only pick super stars for onsite, will they
end up with no one accepting their offers.

发帖数: 2041 | 4 I am no star. My Ph.D. Adviser is a no name (didn't get tenure at tier one
state school; I got my Ph.D. from a state school), close to 5 year post-doc
and the best journal I published in is in JBC (I did push out 9 papers and 1
patent though all in post-doc). I got 3 on-sites and 3 offers. So don't
give up, and if they only pick the super-star, those position will never be
fill. |
