decided to quit Havard and join Google permanantly only a few
months after receiving his tenure and becoming an endowed full
professor.
He wrote a blog post yesterday on why he made such a decision. It
seems that spending more time than he intended in getting funding
support is one of the major reasons for his depature.

not tenure anyone without a Harvard degree, and I've never been here as a
student. So next fall, they will grant me an honorary Master's degree to
clear that burden. I am not making this up.

发帖数: 698 | 11 It takes 7 years to become a chair prof at Harvard. At many public schools, this normally takes about 15 years (6+6+3) or longer. It seems that he has no NSF funding since 2006 from NSF website.

It doesn't matter at all. It is just a life. Anybody will die.
Earn enough money in a short time and then do whatever you want is the
criterion for any job. |
