Typically, they should contact the top candidate within one week after
they got all candidates interviewed.

candidate, even if it's in spring break. So my guess is he/she is not their
first choice. But if the school gives ambiguous answer when being asked, it
means he/she still has a chance if the first offer is declined. |

She didn't ask, but one faculty replied to her thank-you letter second time
to say "I think this is looking good. You should here before long" on Mon,
and one acquaintance said yesterday "I'm rooting that you get an offer. It
would be great to get you here". Looks like they were just being polite.

really like you and don't want to interview more candidates. it usaually
takes two or three weeks . |

extended to onsite, mainly because of her poor spoken english... |

she was expecting to get the news within one week (good or bad)...
