thank you letter after campus interview.
In the end, I wrote a short thank you letter to everyone I talked to and put
one or two sentences particularly for that person.
I think you do need to thank the secretary who arranged your travel. | p**x

有什么要thank的？
就像是别的学校邀请你给个invited talk，流程也faculty interview实际也差不多：吃
饭，和n个人一对一的聊天，给个talk，握手，走人，回头处理下reimbursement，结束
。你见过给invited talk的人回头还写个thank you letter的吗？

发帖数: 73 | 6 My experience is that it is better that you write a thank you letter. Does
not have to be long, three sentences, with one mentioning something you
discussed about in the interview, showing that you listened and thought of
collaboration.
A thank you letter will not turn things around if you did a bad job in the
interview but it will make a difference if the two candidates are close, so
close that people have to use their first impressions to pick one.
Being a interviewer myself, I tend to rate those who are really polite
during and after interview higher. Those type of people usually have better
chance to network with others well. therefore, they may have greater
potential to be successful. You may forget one or two because it is bard to
momerize people when a group is interviewing you. So, try your best by
sending to all the ones you remembered and hope for the best. For those you
can't remember what you talked with them, check their background online,
tell them you are interested in their research and hope you will have a
chance to work with them in the near future. Best of luck in finding a
position.

发帖数: 411 | 7 这是个礼仪问题。大家不仅招个学术牛人，也是招个好相处的同事。
对面试AP的，我觉得还是要写，tenure过的跳槽，就不一定了，但总之，对职业上比自
己senior的，显得礼貌些没有坏处。
