philosophy? Appreciate any input.
I am thinking whether I should buy a piece of quite expensive equipment (>$
50,000, requiring service each year) that I will use relatively often. The
department has one but it is a little bit inconvenient to me. I have to walk
several minutes to use it every time. |

我买了一个4万的仪器，其实用的也不多，只是给我的lab空着什么都没有看上去不好就
买了。 |

里的公用仪器，等你拿到外面的funding再自己买也不迟。用external funding买贵重
的仪器，既可以省overhead, 以后搬家的时候还可以带走。 startup最好拿来发工资和
买consumables.
