想买礼物，但是不知道什么比较合适。要实在想不起合适的礼物，打算就送gift card
，但是记得以前这个论坛上有人讨论过说礼品卡超过50很多教授会收会很为难（？）。

will feel awkward to say the least to receive a gift card from a student. It
is also a reflection of your lack of taste.
There is no need to get any gift. A nice greeting card during holidays will
be a very nice gesture. I kept a card from a student at a Thanksgiving from
several years ago and it always reminded me how thoughtful the student was
and I really appreciate that. The words on the card happened to be a very
nice fit for the circumstance. Show your true appreciation with something
thoughtful if you are truly grateful.
