Two hundred years ago, a Qing dynasty scholar and thinker (Gong Zizhen 1792-
1841) in China wrote:
In such a world, if there are capable scholars or talented people to come
out, there must be a hundred times more vulgar and despicable people who
will spy on them, restrain them, and even kill them. To kill them is not to
use knives, saws, water or fire, but to poison them with words and
reputation. ...Why so? Killing them because they have a worrying heart, a
diligent heart, a thoughtful heart, a heart longing for great accomplishment
, a heart with shameful sense, and a heart free from scum.

很接近。

them".
