My budget is $1000 for a desktop without monitor.

motherboard: asus maximus iv extreme
video card: evga superlocked gtx 580
memory: ddr3, 2133, 4Gx2
harddrive: 2T
cup fan: liquid cooling system
The Monitor is not included.

I read some article that 2600k can beat i7-960 in most of common
applications.
even for i7-970, 2600k can win only if the application is not that much
multi-cores and multi-threadings supportive.
Can you recommend a lcd monitor? I have no idea of it.

平常用噪音会头疼的吧。
系统盘不搞个ssd？
sandybridge的问题解决了？
cpu+mb+graphic就超1000了哈
还没算机箱电源，你这个档次的配置这两个加在一起要200以上
还不如去dell outlet搞二手的xps，想玩游戏自己升级显卡 |

玩游戏的话强烈建议双显卡 |

我从386攒到P4，现在已经丧失热情啦。
不过还是喜欢倒腾硬件。

我觉得显卡比CPU重要。
