A female University of Florida student was hit by an SUV and injured
Saturday night while riding a bicycle on Southwest 13th Street.
Gainesville Police have not released the woman's name because of difficulty
contacting the victim's family. According to Lt. Jeff Blundell, the woman's
family is in China and have not yet been reached.
The student was crossing 13th Street from west to east when she was struck
by a northbound vehicle. The cyclist suffered severe head injuries in the
accident, police said.
The driver of the SUV was not injured.
Blundell said witnesses said the SUV had a green light at the time of the
