It is probably a sign that Reid will be gone next season.
Years ago, when Tony Dungy was at Tampa Bay, they made the playoff but still
underachieved. Owner and GM asked Dungy to fire the OC. But Dungy didn't
think it was OC's fault. They were down to the 3rd string QB who was a
rookie for half of the season. So Dungy insisted not firing the OC. Not to
put Dungy in an awkward situation, the OC resigned by himself.
The next year, they were 9-7 and made the playoff, but Dungy was fired.
In the last game which was meaningless to Tampa, Dungy rested the starters
and they lost the game. People told Dungy: you know, it would be much harder
to fire a coach with a 10-6 record than 9-7. Why not win the game for your
job security. Dungy responded, the coach's job is to do the best thing for
the team, and my job security is God's job. | A*****a
