昨天下午，我正在实验室里跑胶，隔壁的老K探头进来，扫了一眼，见我老板不在，朗
声道：“拉登，晚上来我家打麻将。”见我应允了，这厮便悄然离去。
这老K是个国际友人，姓 Nkemditche， N不发音，大家便称呼他老K了。在中国人堆里
混得久了，老K也变成了一个麻将爱好者。
说起这老K，可真是一个名符其实的千老，来美国读完本科博士，便做起了博后。 现在
快50了，博后也做了20多年了，依然做的津津有味。可惜他同时期的陈章良们，早已放
弃了科学事业。
K嫂是个官二代，浓眉大眼，年轻时想必也是一表人才。她在oklahoma那边上的高中大
学，读的是社会政治学。K嫂毕业后，毅然嫁给了老K，盖因上个世纪，生物还是一门有
前途的学科。学生物的屌丝，也有机会逆袭官二代。
老K和K嫂，婚后一口气生了三个儿子。一家5口，跟随着老K，辗转流离。5年前，孩子
们大了，K嫂便独自海龟了。
留守的老K继续在脚趾丫的爱茉莉继续着他的薄厚生涯。因为这一行得早出晚归加班加
点，实在照顾不了孩子。孩子们都住在同学朋友家里，学业自然放了羊。大儿子高中毕
业，去加州做酒吧歌手去了；二儿子成绩也很差，去年勉勉强强成了体育特招生。

昨晚到了老K家里，孩子们都不在家，跟单身宿舍没有两样。
大家摆好桌子，打风落座，开始了搬砖工程。当前的热门话题，就是联邦政府削减开支
，NIH 要压缩 Grants 了。大家都忧心忡忡自己的位置会不保或几年后的前途。
老K杠上开花，不紧不慢地说，你们知道么，Clemson， LSU 和 UF 都offer了我
Scientist 或 RP（research professor）等permanent的职位，但我都没接受。我们哈
哈大笑，说，老K，现在离四月一号还有22天，你别开玩笑了。
老K严肃地说，哥们，真的。我小儿子Rob打橄榄球很好，这几个学校都想要，给我工作
是他们开的条件之一。Clemson的教练想包机去尼日利亚去说服你K嫂，被你K嫂拒绝了
。我们想，过三年，等 Rob 能打职业比赛了，年薪至少几百万起，我犯不着为了10万
八万坏了名头。
我们都听呆了，真的shock了。那种感觉，难以言表。
老K接着说，你K嫂马上要回来了，我们一家以后就可以买车买房团聚了。兄弟，说实在
的，刷试管杀老鼠这都是末节，早娶老婆多生娃才是正道。你有Cell三篇，不抵我好儿
一个。
我们都木鸡状，想不到蔫不拉几的老K能说出如此大道理。可是，会有谁看上我们这苦
逼的薄厚呢？
老K看懂了我们的心思，说，我老婆有个妹妹，你们谁考虑一下？
接盘，还是不接？

currently attends Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia in his senior
year. Nkemdiche has been named High School Junior of the Year by Rivals.com,

Nkemdiche's dad's UMC job application raises questions
Job hunting by the father of the nation's top high school football prospect
is making headlines.
Sunday Nkemdiche was considered the top candidate for a research coordinator
position at the University of Mississippi Medical Center last spring, UMC
officials confirmed Friday. His son, Robert Nkemdiche, a 6-foot-4, 285-pound
defensive end for Grayson High in Logansville, Ga., is considered the top
recruit in the country and currently lists the University of Mississippi as
his favorite school. (Signing day, when players make their college choices
