WASHINGTON — Fifty members of the Senate have signed a letter to the N.F.L.
to urge its leadership to press the Washington Redskins to change the team
name in the aftermath of tough sanctions against the owner of the Los
Angeles Clippers for racially charged comments.
The position embraced by half of the Senate, and the willingness of the
lawmakers to sign a formal request to Commissioner Roger Goodell, escalated
the fight over the name and represented an effort to put increasing pressure
on the league, which receives a federal tax break, and the ownership of the
team.
“The N.F.L. can no longer ignore this and perpetuate the use of this name
as anything but what it is: a racial slur,” said the letter, which was
circulated by Senator Maria Cantwell, Democrat of Washington, and endorsed
by Senator Harry Reid, Democrat of Nevada, the majority leader. “We urge
the N.F.L. to formally support a name change for the Washington football
team.”
Cantwell said that “we are going to find out if the N.F.L. can act against
this kind of discrimination as quickly as the N.B.A. did.” She said she
considered the Senate letter an important milestone.
All but five Senate Democrats — Mark Warner and Tim Kaine of Virginia, Joe
Manchin of West Virginia, Joe Donnelly of Indiana and Mark Pryor of Arkansas
— signed the letter. It was not circulated among Republicans.

真的。你可以搜搜。中心思想是，斯大林的话算个球，阶级斗争实际上要严峻的多，在
nfl 里更厉害，你看球队都能光明正大的叫红皮。

Richard Sherman: NFL wouldn’t ban a Donald Sterling-type owner

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver has been almost universally praised for banning
Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling for life after Sterling was
recorded making racist remarks. But one of the NFL’s most prominent players
says that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell wouldn’t stand up to an owner the
way Silver did.
Asked in an interview with Time if he thinks Goodell would act the same way,
Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman answered, “No I don’t.”
Sherman elaborated that the NFL has an opportunity to show leadership on
racial sensitivity by changing the name of the Washington Redskins. Instead,
the NFL is refusing to take a stand.
“Because we have an NFL team called the Redskins. I don’t think the NFL
really is as concerned as they show. The NFL is more of a bottom line league
. If it doesn’t effect their bottom line, they’re not as concerned,”
Sherman said.
Goodell said this week on NFL Network that he sees no connection between the
Sterling issue and the Redskins issue, but Sherman says the discussion
about Sterling using racially offensive words should also initiate a
discussion about Daniel Snyder owning a team that uses a name many consider
offensive.
Sherman’s new status as one of the highest-paid players in the NFL isn’t
changing his status as one of the most outspoken players in the NFL.

但进了国会山还是归属于民主党的党部的
会投票给民主党人来当各委员会的主席
不然现在的参议员多数派不就是共和党了嘛

我认为这事你们不该悲愤。让这帮饭桶掺和掺和球队名字明明是好事，
总比他们把时间花在立法批准男人进女厕所和对连环杀手执行死刑必须
是用名牌药物强多了。让Redskins倒霉，但是国之幸事
