(1) The pressure was always measured indoor. There was most likely
no difference in the ambient temperature during measurements.
(2) The referees measured Colt's balls, Patriots' backup balls. If
it was temperature that caused the pressure difference, it should
affect these balls as well. But you do not hear anything about
these controls. What does it tell you?
(3) The NFL already had enough negative publicity this season, do you think
that they would allow this integrity-threatening news floating around for
one week, if they can easily make it go away by citing a convincing
explanation in temperature difference?

process after that had run its course and the footballs reached an
equilibrium, that they were down approximately 1.5 pounds per square inch.
When we brought the footballs back in after that process and retested them
in a controlled environment as we have here, then those measurements rose
approximately 0.5 PSI. So the net of 1.5 [PSI] back down 0.5 [PSI] is
approximately 1 PSI." |
