Basically you have to pay
- Title fee
- Sales tax
- Tag fee
For the sales tax, it depends on your county of residency.
Even if you buy a car out of state, you have to provide the proof that you
have paid the sales tax and it matches the county sales tax. If not, you
have to pay additional cost to match it. | s****i
发帖数: 5469 | 8 新车的话，直接问它要出门价吧。要是分开细算，税和保险应该是大头，dealer可
能还收一笔几百刀的dealer fee。 Title的钱与它们相比可以忽略不计了。

了,只用交registration fee,不知道是不是在骗我?谢谢各位了. | s****i
发帖数: 5469 | 11 如果是私人的间的交易，不用交税，至少两个月前还是这样。去Dealer的话要交消
费税。

发帖数: 14557 | 12 If you buy your car in North Carolina, you pay the sale tax there according
to the tax rate of North Carolina. And you don't need to pay tax again when
you move to Georgia.
However, I think you do need to change your title. (I had to change my title
after I moved to Georgia.) And, yes, you will need to register your car
here in Atlanta. You will also need to get a Georgia Driver's Lisence.
(My answers are based on my experience. Things might have changed.)

or Georgia identification card before registering your vehicle in this
state.我记得版上曾经讨论过,现在在GA换驾照很麻烦,很慢,不知道现在怎么样了?另外

发帖数: 14557 | 14 I can only speak for last year (2009): If you bought a new car in 2009, then
the state tax you paid was exempt from federal tax. (Again, one had to pay
the purchase tax and this tax would not get refunded. But there is no
federal tax on the tax you paid on new cars.) This was true for all those
who filed tax returns as residents. (Not sure about the resident aliens.)
