We have been invited to send a team to compete at the 1st Zhu Gang Cup World
Team Go Championship in Guangzhou, China from December 19-26! Our team will
consist of 3 players and will be one of the non-seeded teams, who will take
part in initial round-robin qualifying rounds at the beginning of the event
. 9 teams will advance from this to the main tournament.
All accommodation and meals will be taken care of by the tournament
organizers. Airfare will be the responsibility of the players. However,
should our team be one of the 9 to advance to the main tournament, the prize
money should cover the airfare. We will confirm this and let you know.
Please see attached the regulations that we received for the 1st Zhu Gang
Cup.
The invitation and regulations do not specify North American citizenship. As
a result, we are implementing the AGA policy on international
representation which includes permanent residents as well. Players must also
have continuous AGA membership for 1 year and resident in North America for
6 of the last 12 months.
If you are interested in competing for North America, please reply to this
email by Sunday November 24th. Selection format and schedule will be
announced based on interest received and interested players will be
contacted directly on Monday November 25th or earlier. Replying with
interest does not guarantee participation, this will be based on number and
strength of interested players. Our team must be selected by December 9th.
