发帖数: 84 | 3 good info. most case of lost ball(can't find in 5 min) should pay 1 stroke
penalty + distance (play new ball from the nearest spot to where lost ball
played).
unfortunately, for us amateurs, it is hard to enforce the distance penalty.
for instance, sometimes you think you can find your ball, but can't find
when you get to the landing spot. many times, lot of us just drop the new
ball to
roughly where it is lost. we don't go back to where the lost ball being hit.
without million dollar TV broadcast camera, it is hard for amateurs to
classify lost ball and its exceptions, or determine " virtually certain".
the best we can do is: once there is 60% probability of lost ball, play a
provisional, i guess?

the tricky part is that, are you 100% sure the ball is in one of the animal
holes?
for us amateurs (play for no money or tiny money), reasonable bending of
rules is common. as long as your partner okay with it if you are serious
with score and betting.
