As I said, it's common for cannons, but I'm talking about guns,with a large
caliber (308?).

i guess a stable non-rotating bullet must have a shape that requires a sabot
. it's hard to put a sabot in a small caliber gun. |

12 gauge had many many types of discarding sabot projectiles, and you can
almost do the same in large bore muzzle loaders
notice what's in common? Large bore.
if you load saboted rounds on to .308s, the actual projectile would be
something like a .22. I'm sure you can squeeze out some extra MVs with that
wildcat, but without the mass, it's just a pea shooter. |
