In case you haven't already heard, there was a shooting on my campus today
right next door to my building. I'm fine, thank you. We were on lock-down
for 2.5 hours, and some folks were clearly shaken up. It wasn't a rampage,
just two kids with guns who had an altercation that could have ended up in a
street fight and/or wrestling match with some bumps, bruises, and maybe a
bloody lip. Instead, they shot each other, and in the process they hit an
innocent bystander who works for the college. Fortunately, no one was killed
. The bystander is in stable condition with a bullet wound to the leg. I don
't care about the shooters. If they didn't have guns, no one would have been
shot. Please don't post shallow arguments or NRA sound bytes claiming this
would have been prevented if more people had guns. I don't want to take your
guns away from you, but please don't bring them to my house or my campus.
However, I'd be happy to go with you to the range and shoot them with you
and will even pay for the ammo. Peace all. |
