My summary:
- guns are not perishable goods, gun laws for new guns not effective
- gun related risk is magnified by media, swimming pool is more risky than
guns for children
- current policies are mis-targeted and have minimal impact. Almost any
political changes will not impact gun crimes.
- better crime control is to increase penalty of gun related offense, like
mandatory imprisonment for any crime committed carrying a gun (even not
using it).
- gun culture is really historical accident. Why marijuana is illegal, while
alcohol is legal. Historical accident. Just live with it.
- none of the current proposal will work unless:
-- get rid of all guns including existing ones
-- or change people's behaviour in the first place.
enjoy
