for home defense, the Hornady XTP JHP is a much better choice. For $0.64
per round with free shipping that is not a bad price. the old design jhp is
cheaper but it doesn't expand reliably as defense round. for a few dollars
more, get something better to save you and your family's life.

these questions are getting off topic.
I am no expert. this is what I replied someone earlier:
People will suggest all different brands of defense ammo. In reality any
modern design hollow point ammo that will expand and cycles reliably with
your defense gun is good to go.
Buy a few boxes of your choice to test reliability with your defense
firearm is a must.
If your gun allows and you are not recoil sensitive, +P and +P+ will get a
bit more powerful projectile.
I settle on the Remington Golden Saber 147gr. hollow point because it cycles
well in all of my pistols and carbine. Plus it has treated flash
retardants powders to decrease muzzle flash for low light application.
CorBon is the best for his pistol but does it cycle well in yours?
Hornady Critical Defense, Speer LE Gold Dot, Remington Golden Saber,
Winchester PDX, and Federal Law Enforcement Tactical HST are all reputable
defense rounds.
