Problem: I need to use the student ID to log in computers at my office. It takes around 15 minutes to log in the system. The same goes with the log-offs. But my friends do not have such problems. The difference is that I saved many files (pdfs, docs, etc.) in the folder C:\user\*** but my friends do not.
IT staff's explanation: My files have to be downloaded from the server each time I log in.
My plan: Use an external storage the device to save all my documents for daily use. (I can also use the Dropbox to synchronize these files with my PC at home).
My questions:
1) Is it a feasible and reasonable plan?
2) Which is better to use, flash drive or hard drive? A 500 GB hard-drive is apparently too large for this purpose.

It takes too much time to login the computer at my office because all
personal files have to be downloaded from the sever every time I log in, and
uploaded to the server every time I log off.
I found a deal in sandisk flash drive, 16G, which is enough for me. But I am
not sure if I should buy a hard drive, or a flash drive for this purpose.
Any comments? Thanks! :)

So I plan to use a external device to store my personal files such that they
won't be downloaded and uploaded to the server again and over again... (I
assume that only files in the folder c:/windows/user/*** need to be backed
up in the server... If this is not the case, welcome any comments :) )
