Scooby Snacks and The Origin of G-String
Today is the first day that I am officially back to the lab after such a
long intense “workout”. Those among you know me well must know what that
is //wink.
One of the traditions of the lab is to have lunch together, since we all
have hectic schedules filled with crazy experiments of our own, it is the
only time of the day we are able to relax and fool around a little bit
before diving back to the hectic world of science again.
The weather was warm and sunny. Our mood seemed affected by the pleasant
weather. T, Alice, Katie, Julian and I ordered delicious sandwiches from
this little gourmet restaurant on W street. Walking under the sun with
friends is probably the best thing. We had small talks here and there,
giggled and laughed. Don’t remember exactly who started the crazy train of
talk first. Somehow we all dislike certain people who often need to be
motivated in order to get things done the right way. Suddenly the
conversation was exploded from that point. Warning! We are nerdy people,
believe it or not. (Yes I am. I am a nerd with glasses. ) Have you
watched Scooby doo before? Scooby loves this special snack, called Scooby
Snacks (SS). He is always reluctant to do helpful things, unless someone
gives him SS. The amount of work he could accomplish, directly relates to
the proportion of SS he gets. What a lazy bum!
Then Katie screamed out from nowhere, “Does anyone know why G-string is
called G string?” OMG, immediately we all took out our iPhones and started
to search the wiki to look up G-string. Normal people would reply back to
her, “Heck! Why did you just ask that?” We are nerds, who like to solve
problems and get to the bottom of IT! It turns out that G stands for GROIN!
We laughed so hard!!! I think most of people have many fantasized images in
their mind relating to the romanticism of G-string, however this GROIN just
turns every bit of romantic sense off. Now you could imagine what the rest
of the day was like. Yes, it was filled with G or Gee talks. We ran into
each
other during our experiments, we took out that G joke again and again. And,
of course, I had an amazing happy day here with all of you. Thank you for
making me laugh at the time of my life, which I desperately need. Love you
all! //wink
