果然，美国上榜的牌子最多，（可能因为wiki是美国的吧，居然连dayton， Altec
Lansing也上了），但是没什么好的音乐箱（当然只是根据我的孤陋寡闻了，可能有什
么好的我没听说过,JBL勉强算一个吧），好的功放倒不少。99%好的品牌在欧洲，日落
西山帝国看来是最多的。
唉，只能等欧元贬值了。

说到书架箱确实欧洲投入精力比较大，反而大一些的箱子，落地，阵列，影院号角什么
的还是美国投入大，可能跟地域风俗国土面积什么的都有关系。hifi虽然起源在美国，
但是精益求精肯定还是在那些手工业比较发达的地方。 |

声音比较forward，有不少人给很高的评价。我
用过一段时间的studio 60,要不是太占地方我
会留着。
psb的alpha在廉价箱子里面好评也不少。

更大的a5, a4, a2, a1已经买不到了只能去淘。
汽车喇叭留下来的应该还不少，也便宜
瘦死的骆驼比马大，2003年复刻的时候他们还留着以前western electric的生产资料，
现在只是因为没有市场和母公司的无知，等以后尘归尘土归土，重生还是有希望的。从
生产音箱的角度，这个公司上那个东拼西凑的list也不奇怪。

in today's dollar, this is more like $1.6K - $2K
it costs about 3 times as much.. so it should be better
but the minuet will give it a good run for the money.

to test all brands/models, I'm trying to get some recommendations from the
experienced ppls on this board for some "liked by most" models to start with.
Since I'm building from scratch, I'm very open to options. My budget will be
probably 2~3k including speakers, receiver and DAC. I don't have many CDs,
but a lot of APEs, so I can live with my PS3 for CDs for the time being. I
mostly listen to symphonies and vocals. I also like violin solo. Actually I
like piano too. But I heard it's impossible to reproduce good piano on low-
end system, so I'll give up and go to Lincoln Center instead.
Just asking. Maybe my questions are too blind to be answered. That's fine.

with a Bob Carver VTA20 （$1200），听了觉得不错，但是$5000超了预算，他就给我
换了一对Dali Mentor1，$2000。感觉音域没有805宽，而且个人感觉805更dynamic一点
，或者是传说中的加了味精？这两对好像都是monitor的。但是Dali的也还ok。Dealer
说如果感兴趣他可以order一对Mentor2，$2800，音域会宽一点。
做了一下study,好像说805 diamond不如原先的805 matrix。可惜查了audiogon和ebay
都没有这两个型号的（805 matrix和Dali Mentor2）。805 diamond有一对，也要$4000
，超了预算了。Mentor 2在ebay上有一对，但是seller在斯洛文尼亚，感觉有点悬。看
来要蹲点了。

This Matrix 805 is the first version of today's $5,000-the-pair B&W Diamond
805. Exactly like today's 805 Diamond, this original 805 Matrix uses a 6.5"
(165mm) woven Kevlar cone with 30mm Kapton-former voice coil, and uses the
exact same tweeter as B&W's top-of-the line 800-series speaker of its time.
This original Matrix 805 has a more attractive tweeter than the weird-
looking thing on top of the new Diamond 805, and more importantly, this
Matrix 805 uses a far more advanced active sixth-order bass alignment than
the simpler and less expensive fourth-order passive design of the Diamond
805.
"Alignment" has nothing to do with physical placement of components, drivers
or anything; in this case, alignment refers to the poles and zeros of the
abstract (imaginary) mathematical transforms that are used by speaker
designers to describe the exact frequency responses of loudspeaker systems.
Speakers are designed by modeling the low-frequency performance as an
electrical filter, for which engineers have many tools to simulate. Once
simulated, the drivers, vents and boxes can be designed and then built just
once exactly without having to build numerous samples to see what happens.
A fourth-order alignment describes any vented-box or passive-radiator
speaker. If you add a second-order dedicated high-pass filter before your
power amplifier, you have far more control of the bass frequency and phase
response. This Matrix 805 is designed for use with such a filter, which was
included with it in the beginning. This concept was too advanced for the
market, so as B&W expanded into the mass-market, it dropped these more
advanced sixth-order designs because so few consumers understood it, or used
B&W's dedicated equalizers.
This is too bad for people who buy today's $5,000 Diamond 805, since they
get a less-extended and bumpier response than this Matrix 805 gives with it'
s dedicated equalizer. John Bowers passed away some time ago, and after
brilliant speakers like the Matrix 805, B&W sadly has pretty much been
coasting along on the marketing department's innovations.

因为我压根也没打算在他那儿买，所以也不太care他的报价。我想二手的性价比可能更
高，而且纽约8.875的税也太高了，苦逼啊。
只是想找几个大众的箱子听听，可能自己喜欢的概率大一些。好像班上有人推荐B&W的
800的，Dynaudio的听众的，还有一位老兄逢人就推荐JBL 4312的，jwalk好像推荐过
